Nice is one of my top three cities. The food was amazing, and it's a really romantic city. Touring the French Riviera was a highlight, and Monaco was top of my list: the views, the culture, the F1 track, the cars and the yachts.

Ligue 1 · Parc des PrincesParis Saint-Germain 1–1 Clermont Foot
My first time at the Parc des Princes, and I went on my own. Honestly, it was a flat game. Clermont led at half-time and PSG only equalised through Gonçalo Ramos in the 85th minute. At least getting there was easy.

Good waffles and chocolate, but honestly, nothing really stood out.
What I did
Tue 9 AprGhent, on a day trip
The morning half of a Ghent and Bruges day trip from Brussels, where I was staying. St Bavo's Cathedral is home to the Van Eyck brothers' Ghent Altarpiece.
70 / 100 Would I return? Yes: Just for the waffles and chocolate.

Same story as Ghent: great waffles and chocolate, but a bit boring, and nothing really stood out.
What I did
Tue 9 AprBruges, the afternoon half of the day trip
The Church of Our Lady, whose brick tower is one of the tallest in the world and which holds Michelangelo's Madonna and Child. Then a waffle.
70 / 100 Would I return? Yes: Just for the waffles and chocolate.

Brussels was okay. The city itself was a bit boring and nothing really stood out, but the chocolate and waffles were amazing. Honestly, they were the best thing about Belgium, and I'd go back just for them.

What I did
Wed 10 AprChocolate, beer, waffle and whiskey tour
A small-group walking tour of the old town: chocolate tastings, Manneken Pis (who gets dressed in a different costume several times a week), the Town Hall and the Grand-Place, then Belgian beers.
LikedThe chocolate and the waffles.

Eredivisie · Johan Cruijff ArenAAjax 2–1 FC Twente
Twente went ahead through Ricky van Wolfswinkel before Brian Brobbey equalised, and a late Steven Bergwijn penalty won it. I remember the crowd going crazy over Brobbey and not getting why. Now I watch him at Sunderland, and I get it.

Premier League · Stamford BridgeChelsea 6–0 Everton
The infamous penalty-row game. At 4–0 up, Noni Madueke and Nicolas Jackson were arguing over who'd take a penalty until Cole Palmer took the ball and scored it himself. That was his fourth of the night, after a hat-trick inside the first half hour. Watching Palmer score four in person is something I'll never forget.

Apart from the Bayern game, I didn't really do much. It was gloomy the whole time and not a great experience, but the game made it worth it. Watching Arsenal lose is one of the things that brings me joy.

Champions League quarter-final, second leg · Allianz ArenaBayern Munich 1–0 Arsenal
Joshua Kimmich's header just after the hour sent Bayern into the semi-finals, 3–2 on aggregate.
LikedThe Bayern game, and watching Arsenal lose.
Didn't likeGloomy weather, rude people and food that wasn't good.

Bundesliga · Signal Iduna ParkBorussia Dortmund 1–1 Bayer Leverkusen
I ended up in the Leverkusen end, which was an experience in itself, and found out the hard way that you're not allowed to film the ultras. One fan had a Victor Boniface phone case, and we got talking once they found out I'm Nigerian. I also got to watch Xabi Alonso's Leverkusen do it again. Füllkrug put Dortmund ahead in the 81st minute, then Josip Stanišić headed in a 97th-minute equaliser to keep their unbeaten season going. Another last-minute goal.
